PANCHKULA, APRIL 22:St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, Chandigarh boys and girls emerged champions in the second edition of the Clive Shear Memorial Carrom Tournament for under-17 boys and girls which was organised by St Xavier’s High School in Sector 20 here today.The St Stephen’s boys team comprising Manoj Thakur, Talib and Aarish outplayed the hosts St Xavier’s squad consisting of Amber, Shivam and Rachit by 3-0 in the final.The St Stephen’s-45 girls also did not lag behind. Farheen, Tuba and Damanpreet formed a formidable combination to outclass St Xavier’s or Panchkula (Nupur Arora, Loveleen and Rebacca) in the final by 3-0.
Earlier, in the boys semi-final encounters, St Xavier’s of Panchkula proved too good for Ryan International School, Sector 49, Chandigarh by 3-0 and St Stephen’s School, Chandigarh blaned St Xavier’s, Sector 44, Chandigarh by an identical margin.
In the girls semi-final matches, St Stephen’s Chandigarh outsmart St Xavier’s, Sector 44, Chandigarh by 3-0 while playing before their colleagues, St Xavier’s of Panchkula prevailed over plucky St Xavier’s of Mohali by 2-1.
