PANCHKULA, NOV 27 : Holy Child School and St Xavier’s High School, both of Panchkula claimed the girls and boys titles, respectively, in the 3rd Chand Trehan Memorial Inter-School Basketball Tournament organized by Holy Child School at the school’s premises on the Morni Hill Road today. The sports activities are part of the Founder’s Week celebrations.
Holy Child outplayed Delhi Public School of Pinjore by a comfortable margin of 20-9 in the girls final. Cheered up by the colleagues, the Holy Child girls played an inspired game to defeat their rivals. Gul Walia was Holy Child’s best player as she sunk 12 valuable points.
Arunjeet Ghosal (4) Tania Dogra (2) and Srishti Ramavat (2) extended full support to their Gul who was the main architect of Holy Child’s title triumph. For Delhi Public School Vartika waged a lone battle as she score all the nine points for her team.
Holy Child’s Gul Walia was adjudged the best player of the tournament..
St. Xavier’s High School, Panchkula struggled to overcome a stiff resistance from Delhi Public School of Pinjore in the boys final. Xavier’s scored a hard-fought win by 52-49 . Amber Sharma emerged the highest scorer with 21 points for Xavier’s. Gaurav (9), Sarfraj (9) , Sahil Joshi (7) and Shubham Joshi (6) also gave good account of themselves. Though the DPS boys lost the final, they were not disgraced. They matched their rivals in departments of the game. Moksh top scored with 12 points. Karan Malik (10), Shubham (4), Uday (10), Achal (10) and Krishna (3) served DPS well.
Amber Sharma of St. Xavier’s High School was declared the best player in the boys section.
Holy Child School Principal Neena Trehan gave away the prizes.
