Madhup Yadav, Panchkula 3, Nov :In 29’Th league of 20-20 ICL match, Dhaka Warriors set stiff target against Ahmedabad Rockets at the Tau Devi Lal stadium (Panchkula). As a crucial match both sides to remain in contention for a berth in the semi finals. Ahmedabad Rockets captain Damien Martyn won the toss and chooses to bowling. Nazimuddin & Nafees gets wonderful opening with the openers. Nafees was unable to tackle the bowling sense of Gillespie and looses his wicket in the second over at the score of 15 runs.
Afterwards, Aftab Ahmed joined Nazimuddin to face the pace attack of Ahmedabad bowlers. Streak struck back the wicket of Aftab Ahmed at score of 43 runs. At the end of Dhaka side placed 50 runs in fifth over with fall of 2 wickets. In the second spell of 10th Gillespie picked Nazimuddin’s big wicket and he missed his half century just by 2 runs.
Nazimuddin’s knock of 48 came off 29 balls & was laced with 3 fours and 4 sixes.
In 11th over, Dhaka side well placed at 93/3. In crucial middle over Martyn was introduced his spinners Kalia & Sriram in the crucial middle overs who managed to plug the Dhaka run flow to some extent. Sriram got the big break by castling Alok Kapali in the 14th over, ending his promising knock of 26 off 22 balls.
Sriram struck again the wicket of opposition skipper Bashar’s wicket in the 16th over to leave the Dhaka batting in a bit of a bother at 128/5. Mahbubul Karim however had other ideas & took over the batting mantel playing a lovely cameo laced with some brilliant stroke play. Gillespie tooks his third victim in form of Ghosh out for a well made 18. Karim was the standout batsman and his unbeaten knock was worth 45 runs off only 22 balls including 4 fours and 3 sixes.
In the end with the brilliant aggressive batting 15 fours & 10 sixes helped the Dhaka Warriors to set a tremendous target against Ahmedabad Rockets. For the Ahmedabad side it was again their old war horse Gillespie, who returned with the best figures of 4/29.
