PANCHKULA, DEC 17 :Archit of Delhi Public School of Panchkula and Khusbu of St.Teresa Convent School, Panchkula, emerged winners in the Panchkula District Open Chess Championship organised by the Panchkula District Chess Association at St Teresa Convent School in Sector 25 here today.
Jaskirat of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh, and Tarini of Sacred Heart won the boys and girls under-9 chess titles, respectively.Abhishek Aggarwal of Strawberry Field World School and Arunima Goyal of Sacred Heart won the boys and girls titles for under-13, respectively.
As many as 80 students from different schools participated in the championship, according to PDCA secretary Harish Kumar. Kuldeep Sharma, secretary Haryana State Chess Association was present on the occasion. St Teresa Convent School Principal Amit Chopra inaugurated the tournament while vice president Sanjeev Chopra distributed the prizes.
Results: Under-9 (boys): 1 Jaskirat (D.P.S Chandigarh), 2 Rishabh Jain (D.P.S.Chd), 3 Shiva (D.P.S. Pkl). Girls: 1 Tarini (Sacred Heart), 2 Khushi (St.Teresa Convent School, Pkl), 3Ishita (St.Teresa Convent School, Pkl).
Under-13 (boys): 1 Abhishek Aggarwal (Strawberry Field World School), 2 Sunbir Chawala (Strawberry Field World School), 3 Mukul Sharma (Gurukul). Girls: 1 Arunima Goyal (Sacred Heart), 2 Shivani (St.Teresa Convent School ), 3 Swati (St.Teresa Convent School). Open boys: 1 Archit (D.P.S. Pkl), 2 Piyush (D.P.S. Pkl), 3 Mukul (St.Teresa Convent School). Girls: 1 Khusbu (St.Teresa Convent School), 2 Ity (St.Teresa Convent School), 3 Jaspreet (St.Teresa Convent School).
