Chandigarh, August 1 – Haryana Government has decided to set up Observation Homes and Special Homes for looking after the children in conflict with law as provided under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2000.
This was stated by Haryana Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Woman and Child Development Department Mrs. Shakuntala Jakhu while addressing Programme Officers and Child Development Project Officers at Jhajjar today.
She said that a Child Protection Home would be set up over an area of two acres at Jhajjar and land had already been identified for the purpose. Mrs. Jakhu directed the Programme Officers and Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) for proper implementation of Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) schemes.While reviewing the progress of ICDS, she emphasized to further improve the functioning of ICDS schemes. The scheme had been launched to provide nutritional food to the pregnant women and also the children so that they could remain healthy. She directed the concerned CDPOs to arrive on time to their duty and check the anganwari centres by visiting the villages. She also asked them to fill up complete detail of anganwari centres in the prescribed proforma and to regularly examine the food items in the centres. She also directed to cover more women and children under the scheme so that every woman and child could get complementary nutritional food.
Mrs. Jakhu also directed the concerned offices to expedite the construction of new anganwadi centres besides ensuring facility of toilets, electricity and water in these centres. She also emphasized to spread awareness among people about Ladli scheme.
