Chandigarh, July 28 – A ‘MGNREGA Awareness Camp’ is being organized at Hisar tomorrow to generate awareness about Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda will also address the gathering on this occasion.
While giving this information here today, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Mr. Vinod Bhayana said that elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) of district Hisar would participate in the camp. Senior officers of Panchayat Department would provide detailed information to these representatives about the scheme and guide book prepared by Institute of Rural Development, Nilokheri on MGNREGA. Apart from this, they would also provide information about various works to be carried out under the scheme.Mr. Bhayana said that the Chief Minister had recently announced to provide annual grant of Rs.50 lakh to each Panchayat Samiti and developmental works upto Rs.10 lakh could now be carried out by Panchayats at their own level. With this decision, the responsibility of PRIs had been further increased. This programme is being organized to provide detailed information about MGNREGA to representatives of PRIs, he added.
