CHANDIGARH March 21–Mr Justice Ajay Tewari, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Administrative Judge, Kurukshetra, has said that the courts are concerned over the fact that even though all conditions were fulfilled while granting bail to the prisoners, they remained locked in prisons for want of people to take their bail.
Justice Tewari was interacting with media persons after inaugurating Modern Meeting Room in Kurukshetra jail today. He also inaugurated the computer centre set up in jail library and a de-addiction centre set up in jail health centre with the help of voluntary organizations.
He met individually as many as 484 inmates in the jail, heard their grievances and directed the concerned officers to redress them. While addressing the inmates, Justice Tewari said that since laws were made in Parliament, these are equal for all.
The Modern Meeting Room has been set up in jail to facilitate the inmates to meet their relatives. Now, they would be able to interact with their relatives through intercom. With the help of new Biometric Calling System installed in the jail, the inmates would be able to talk to their relatives over the phone for 35 minutes in a week. The inmates can call on two numbers on this system, he added.
