Chandigarh August, 26: The Governor of Haryana, His Excellency, Jagannath Pahadia released the Kurukshetra University Newsletter at the Haryana Raj Bhavan today. Congratulating the Vice-Chancellor Lt. Gen. (Dr.) D.D.S. Sandhu on this occasion he lauded the initiative taken by the university in the launching the newsletter.
He expressed his hopes that the Newsletter would go a long way in ensuring a rich and regular dialogue of the University with national and international academic circles, policy makers and the other stakeholders. He said that the Kurukshetra University is the oldest seat of higher education in Haryana and it has done pioneering work in this field over its 50 years in existence. The newsletter will serve as a mouthpiece of the University for highlighting its achievements and plans for future growth. The interaction with the national and international academic circle through the newsletter, he said, will help the faculty members of the university in keeping abreast with the latest developments taking place globally in the field of education, technology and social development. Besides, the newsletter will highlight various activities of the university in the fields of science, engineering health, general education and professional guidance.
Appreciating the efforts of the editor of the newsletter Prof. Rajbir Singh, Director, Institute of Mass Communication he said that he, along with his team, deserved compliments for their excellent work in the design and development of the KU Newsletter.
Outlining the need for publishing the Newsletter the Vice-Chancellor of the University Lt. Gen. (Dr.) D.D.S. Sandhu said that it would fulfill the long-felt need for such an instrument to air its achievements and aspirations. He said that a Newsletter is a wonderful means of communication for any organization that can offer timely information tailored to the interest of various stakeholders. It is indeed a 360-degree communication tool meant for both on campus and off-campus readers.
Acknowledging the good work done by the staff and the students of the Institute of Mass Communication and Media Technology of the University, he said that the Newsletter would also provide them with an opportunity to acquire a practical experience in the field of journalism.
The Editor of the Newsletter Prof. Rajbir Singh told that the inaugural issue of the quarterly Newsletter offers a brief account of the history and growth of the university over the years along with its important activities and achievements and shares with the reader its vision for the future. The release-ceremony included Mr. Mohinder Kumar, Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Interjit Sukhija, Joint Secretary, ADC to Governor Mr. Jagpravesh Dahiya, daughter of the Governor Ms Himani Pahadia and Prof. Brajesh Sahany, Chairman, Deptt, of English and Director, Public Relations of the Kurukshetra University.
