Chandigarh, June 4 : Indian National Lok Dal has condemned the steep hike in Petrol, Diesel and Cooking Gas. Asking the Government for roll-backing the price hike of petroleum products, INLD national president, Chaudhary Om Parkash Chautala said that commonmen is already under severe burden of spiraling prices, would be totally ruined by this hike.
Mr Chautala said that INLD would launch a state wide awakening campaign in Haryana from June 5 against the Petro hike, inflation and all round failure of the government. He said that the Congress government has totally failed to curb the prices and inflation would further rise due to the cascading effect of diesel price rise on commodities by way of higher transportation.
INLD chief said that policies of Congress government has always been anti-poor, anti-peasant and anti-working class and adopted the policies favouring inflation & black marketing. He said that the government’s sahllow promises to curb the inflation have been exposed now.
If the government had been serious in its proclamations and promises in controlling the prices, it would not have increased the prices of Petrol, Diesel & Cooking gas, Mr Chautala said. Various taxes and duties like excise, import etc should have been decreased rather then increasing the prices of the petro products, he added. He said that it is a matter of surprise that the governments are charging more then 21 Rupees as various taxes/duties for one liter of Petrol & about 12 Rupees for one liter of Diesel. Duties in India for Petrol & Diesel are considered among the highest in the world, he further added.
Mr Chautala said that the government Petro hike would prove disastrous for the economy of the country and all the claims made by the Prime Minister on the front on inflation has been proved to be a hoax.
INLD leader said that the Congress government should immediately roll back this hike otherwise it would adversely affect the life of a common man and the living would become impossible. He asked the Prime Minister & Finance Minister to resign, if they cannot control this inflation.
