Kurukshetra – A seminar on ‘Decoding the mandate 2014’ was oragnised here at Yoga Sadan of Gita Niketan by Kurukshetra Study Centre of Panchnad Research Institute, Chandigarh. Prof. B.K. Kuthiala Vice Chancellor of Makhan Lal Chaturvedi University of Journalism, Bhopal was the key speaker on this occassion. Dr. Swami Shashwatanand of Akhand Geetapeeth presided over the function. Speaking on the occassion Prof. Kuthiala underlined that more than 80 crore people participated in the biggest ever public discourse using different media during the campaigning of these elections.
This election was also unique in terms of participation of women and youth. It was because of this element that Indian voters seemed breaking conventional barriers of caste, religion and region. Awareness drives towards voting run by Election Commission and other NGO’s proved very effective in these elections. Leading personalities from different walks of life who normally stay away from politics were seen playing key role in 2014 elections. Mandate of 2014 elections indicated towards a paradigm shift and inclinations of intellectual community towards cultural nationalism was seen happening in these elections.
In his presidential address Dr. Swami Shashwatanand brought home the Universality of hindu view of life. Seminar was attended by eminent citizens including Dr. Rishi Goel, State Coordinator of Panchnad Research Institute, Dr. CDS Kaushal, Chairman and Dr. Bansi Lal, Secretary of Kurukshetra chapter of PRI.
