Chandigarh, November 20: Congress MP Mr Deepender Singh Hooda today said that the Outreach Out Patient Department (OOPD) of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-2 at Bhadsa(Haryana) would be inaugurated by Union Health Minister Mr Gulam Nabi Azad and Haryana Chief Minister Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda on November 24.
In a statement issued here today, Mr Hooda said that it is a matter of pride and big achievement for the state of Haryana as this would be the first AIIMS campus outside Delhi. He said that thousands of people would be able to get treatment at OOPD from the Doctors of this best health institution of the country. He said that it was a matter of great delight that not only the people of Haryana but the people of adjoining states like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh & Uttrakhand would also be benefited with best available health treatment in the country.
Lok Sabha MP from Haryana said that the present Congress Government in the state has set up 4 Medical Colleges in public sector since 2005(when it came to power), whereas no Government Medical Colleges was setup from 1966 to 2005 as the only Government Medical College of Rohtak was setup during the Joint Punjab province days. No other State Government setup any Government Medical College in the state wheras Medical Colleges have been set up at Khanpur, Nalhar(Mewat) and Faridabad and the work on Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, Karnal has already started on fast pace.
Mr Hooda said that Union Health Minister has announced that the AIIMS-2 would be bigger than the Delhi AIIMS and it would have many more facilities than the Delhi. He has said that the new AIIMS will also house a National Institute where cancer, heart and infectious diseases would be treated.
Mr Hooda said that AIIMS is developed in a phased manner and the OOPD would be its first stage and it would house Medical College, Nursing College and National Cancer Institute.
