Chandigarh, November 11–The last rites of the martyr Monu of Jat Regiment were performed at his native village with full military honours today. A salute was given by the Army as a mark of honour to the martyred soldier. Monu had died when his bunker along
the Line of Control in Nowgam village of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir caught fire.
The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal Khattar, and the Finance Minister, Capt Abhimanyu, have expressed sorrow on the soldier death. Monu was a resident of Gamda
village in Narnaud sub-division in Hisar. They have conveyed condolences to the bereaved family. In a condolence message issued here today, they said that the sacrifice made by Monu would always be remembered. The state and the country would remain indebted to his family.
