Chandigarh, November 23 – Haryana State Federation of Cooperative Sugar Mills has released tentative crushing season schedule for cooperative sugar mills which will start from November 19, 2013. The tentative schedule has been released depending upon the availability of sugar cane in the respective areas of each sugar mills.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that Panipat and Karnal Cooperative Sugar Mills would start its crushing season from November 19, Rohtak Cooperative Sugar Mills from November 21 or 28, Sonipat Cooperative Sugar Mills from November 28, and Jind Cooperative Sugar Mills from November 28 or December 5, Shahabad Cooperative Sugar Mills and Meham Sugar Mills form November 26, Kaithal Cooperative Sugar Mills from December 1, Palwal Sugar Mills form November 27 and Gohana Cooperative Sugar Mills from December 2, 2013. He said that the expected sugar cane production would be 471 lakh quintals. It was expected that Sugar Mills in the Cooperative sector would crush 349 lakh quintal of cane.
The sugar cane growers of the state would earn extra income due to increase in cane prices for the season, 2013-14. The price of sugarcane has been raised to Rs.276 per quintal for early, Rs.271 per quintal for mid maturing and Rs.266 per quintal for late maturing varieties which is highest in the country
