Y.S. Rana,Chandigarh , April 21 : The Haryana Government has chalked out a plan to set up a State of art culinary institute, one of its kind in the country, at Pinjore. The government has identified 16 projects for implementation under public private partnership. It has been decided to appoint Transaction Advisors and Strategic Consultants as per requirement to undertake the PPP projects.
This was stated by the Haryana Tourism Minister, Mr Om Parkash Jain while addressing 2nd Regional Tourism Ministers Conference for the North Central States at Rishikesh, Uttrakhand here on Thursday.The Minister said that the Tourism Policy implemented by the Haryana Government had acknowledged the role of private sector in tourism development and promotion with Government acting as facilitator and catalyst for the future growth.
He said that a comprehensive lease policy has been provided for developing tourism or hotel projects in public private partnership (PPP) under which Government lands can be given on lease for short term upto 11 years and long term upto 33 years. Thrust had been given on human resource development, systematic marketing and adoption of new technologies in the tourism sector.
Mr Jain said that under its Tourism Policy, the State Government had made special efforts to promote Human Resource Development. New Institute of Hotel Management at Kurukshetra has been started with the financial assistance from Union Ministry of Tourism and the Food Craft Institute at Faridabad has been upgraded to the level of Institute of Hotel Management. A new Institute of Hotel Management was being set up at Rohtak.
Five acres of land has been allotted for setting up an Institute of Hotel Management at Badkhal in Faridabad under PPP mode. Necessary action was being taken for setting up of new Institute in district Yamuna Nagar.
The Minister said that Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, had launched a Training Programme to create employable skills in the youth. The institutes at Faridabad and Kurukshetra had conducted short-term training courses under the scheme and 543 persons had been trained in these institutes by March 2011. Recently, Ministry of Tourism had sanctioned Rs. 10.57 lakh for the Government Polytechnic for Women, Morni in district Panchkula and Maharishi
Markendeshwar University Mullana in district Ambala to conduct the training courses to train 100 persons.
The projects of conducting hospitality courses sanctioned for ITI Rohtak, Karnal and Tosham were under implementation by the Industrial Training Department, Haryana, he added.
The initiative of the Ministry of Tourism in evolving collaboration and partnership of various north central states would go a long way in boosting the domestic tourism in the country, said Mr Jain adding that Haryana Tourism had been jointly participating with the neighbouring states like Chandigarh in WTM London and SAATE and meetings were held at the level of Secretaries for evolving joint
strategy for integrated development of tourism activities. Haryana Tourism would be willing to implement the recommendations of the Regional Tourism Ministers Conference in this direction as per requirement.
He said that important tourist circuit of Panipat-Kurukshetra-Pinjore was being developed with financial assistance of the Union Ministry of Tourism. This had already become an important and famous tourist circuit based on religion and cultural heritage. Similarly, an inter-state tourist circuit of Yamuna Nagar- Poanta Sahib-Panchkula was being developed with central financial assistance. The famous Mughal Gardens at Pinjore had also been renovated. The Forest Department and Tourism Department, Haryana had joined hands to promote Eco-Tourism projects in the State.
The important tourist complexes like Surajkund, Badkhal Lake, Damdama, Tilyar Lake, Rohtak, Karna Lake, Karnal, Hodal and Dharuhera were being developed as tourist destinations, he added. Union Tourism Minister, Mr Subodh Kant Sahay, Union State Minister for Tourism, Mr Sultan Ahmed, Chief Minister of Uttrakhand,Mr Ramesh Pokhriyal, besides Tourism Ministers of various states attended the Conference.
