Chandigarh, April 23 – Haryana Lokayukta has received 96 complaints out of which 94 had been settled. The Commission has sent a detailed report to the State Government and action such as charge sheet, suspension and transfer has been taken against guilty.
This was informed today by former Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court and Haryana Lokayukt, Mr Pritampal while addressing the officers, public representatives and media persons at Fatehabad.
He urged the media persons to create awareness among people and play a constructive role to eliminate corruption. He said that it was not possible for a single individual to fight against corruption and people who were aware should form an organization to raise their voice against corruption. The members of the organization should be honest and have a sense of selfless service. He said that strict action would be taken against corrupt people. Lokayukt was constituted to get rid of corruption and it was fully capable to act against corrupt people. Complaint against any public representative who was involved either to favour or to harm anyone by taking undue advantage of his position could be filed. The name of the complainant would be kept confidential. Similarly to avoid misuse, there was also provision of three years imprisonment or fine of Rs ten thousand for filling any false complaint or complaint with ulterior motive. He said that bribery was an offence and it was worst than begging. He urged to work for the welfare of people and to help the needy.
