Chandigarh, February 1– Haryana Home Minister, Mr. Anil Vij has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi and the Union Finance Minister, Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman for the 137 percent increase in health allocation in the Union Budget and for strengthening the infrastructure of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
In his tweet, Mr. Anil Vij said that after recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is a commendable step to increase the budget allocated for health sector to Rs. 2.23 lakh crore as compared to Rs. 94,000 crore allocated last year.
Appreciating the budget, Mr. Anil Vij said that this budget will raise the standard of living of the poor, labourers, farmers, and the elderly. This will lead to equitable development of all sectors including health, education, employment, industry, research, and infrastructure. He said that the country has 2 vaccines and 2 more will come soon. The government has allocated Rs. 35,000 crore for the COVID-19 vaccine, he added. He said that along with this, there are plans to create 17 new public health units and National World Health Institute to improve public facilities. He said that employment opportunities will increase with the coming of 72 percent FDI in the insurance sector, and the banking system will be further strengthened with the help of Rs. 22,000 crore to the banks. Along with this, the IPO of LIC will also strengthen the economy, he added.
Mr. Anil Vij said that Rs. 1.41 lakh crore will be spent on the Urban Clean India Mission in the Union Budget to make cities neat and clean, which will increase the number of facilities in various cities of the county including Haryana and Jal Jeevan Mission will be launched as well. He said that there is a plan to introduce infrastructure fund for farmers in the budget, for which Rs. 1 lakh crore has been allocated for paddy and Rs. 75,000 crore for wheat in the year 2020-21. Along with this, procurement of farmers’ crops will continue on MSP and one and a half times the price will be ensured on the crops.
