Chandigarh, April 11 – The Haryana Government would set up a college in Mewat area after the name of Lieutenant, Mrs. Kiran Shekhawat, a woman officer from Mewat who died in the line of duty. Apart from this, the roads from village Chachera of Mewat to Bighawali Mod and Kurthala to Akbarpur Natol would also be named after her to inspire the the coming generations.
This was disclosed by Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal while paying tributes to Mrs. Kiran Shekhawat in the village of Kurthala, Nuh block, district Mewat today.
He said that Mrs. Kiran Shekhawat, the daughter-in-law of Mewat, has done the state proud by sacrificing her life during the naval search operation. The people of the state will always remember her sacrifice. We all salute her martyrdom and courage, he added.
The Chief Minister and Education Minister, Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma paid floral tributes to Mrs. Kiran Shekhawat. Mr. Manohar Lal assured members of the bereaved family that in their hour of grief, the State Government is with them. He said that Mrs. Kiran had sacrificied her life for the country in young age. She has become immortal for the country. The Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt condolences to the members of bereaved family. It is a matter of pride that Kiran’s whole family is dedicated towards country’s service. The Chief Minister also planted a sapling at her memorial.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma said that Mrs. Kiran Shekhawat had lost her life during the naval search operation. Not only Mewat, but the entire state is proud of her bravery. Soldiers belonging to Haryana are working dedicatedly at the borders. Women soldiers are leading on many fronts and Kiran Shekhawat has set an example for them.
