Chandigarh, October 31 – Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge to the officers and officials of Haryana Civil Secretariat here today on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Manohar Lal said that everyone should dedicate themselves to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation and also strive hard to spread this message among all fellow countrymen.
Paying rich tributes to our national leader, the Chief Minister said that Sardar Patel, known as Iron man of India, played a prominent role during the independence struggle of the country and actively participated in the task of building a united and independent nation.
The Chief Minister hoped that October 31 would always be observed as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in the memory of ‘Iron man of India’. He said that Statue of Unity is being set up at a cost of Rs.2500 crore at Gujarat. It would be completed in a period of five years. He said that the day is being celebrated all over the country with an aim to maintain and strengthen the unity and integrity of nation.
Those present on this occasion included Finance Minister Capt. Abhimanyu, Chief Secretary Mrs. Shakuntla Jakhu, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Principal Secretaries 1 and II, Mrs Sumita Misra and Dr Rakesh Gupta respectively, OSD to Chief Minister Mr. Jawahar Yadav and other senior officers and officials of the State Government.
