SIRSA, September 5: JCD International Twenty20 Cricket League (JCD ICL) got off to a colourful start amidst fanfare and cultural bonanza by Indian singer and actor Himesh Reshammiya at JCD Vidyapeeth on Friday. The opening match was played between Lahore Lions Pakistan and JCD National Cricket Academy, Sirsa.
Himesh Reshammiya was a big hit with the crowd, which danced on his tunes of ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja’, ‘Dil ki surkh diwaron par naam tera-tera’ and many other hit songs at the jam-packed JCD Stadium.
Former Haryana Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala inaugurated the tournament, by unfurling JCDNCA flag. JCD chairman and Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Singh Chautala, Tarlochan Singh, Punjab Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Sirsa Indian Air Force Group Captain G.S. Bedi, MLA, ex MLA, Ex MP and national and international players participated in the function. A laser show was also organised apart from the international level fireworks. The tournament is being played on round robin league basis and all the eight teams have been divided into two groups. Group ‘A’ would have Lahore Lions Pakistan, Air India , Indian Air Force and JCDNCA whereas Sharjah Tigers Dubai, Sri Lanka, LIC Cricket Club and Indian Navy would be in group ‘B’. Best two teams from the two groups would play semi-finals on September 12 and 13, whereas the final will be played on September 15.
