Hissar : July 26 CCS Haryana Agricultural University hisar has been issued a patent on a biotechnological process which enhances in-vitro plantlets regeneration in air yarn plant, announced the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. K.S. Khokhar today.
He said that Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, Government of India has granted patent number 248511 to this technology developed by Dr. (Mrs.) Pushpa Kharab, Professor, Molecular Biology and Bitechnology Department (MMB) and her team including Ms. Kanta Dahiya and Ms. Victoria Yadav (both students) , Drs. Parveen Batra, Neeru Narula, Santosh Dhillon and V.K. The plantlets which grow in this medium bear healthy roots and take nearly 15 days less to become a complete plant”, he elaborated.
Dr. R.K. Kashyap, Director, Human Resource Management of the university said that MBB Department was leading the university in terms of filing patent applications. He said with early initiatives taken by the IPR Cell of the university, 32 patent applications had been filed so far out of which four patents were granted. Dr. R.B. Srivastava, Incharge, IPR Cell and Principal Investigator, Business Planning and Development Unit said that early necessary steps would be taken to commercialize the technology.
