Chandigarh, February 26 – As many as 1,930 cases were settled on in Lok Adalats organized by Haryana State Legal Services Authority at different places in the State today.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana State Legal Services Authority said that these Lok Adalats were held at Hisar, Hansi, Karnal, Narnaul, Rohtak and Rewari. In these Lok Adalats, 1,930 cases including 43 of Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) pertaining to death or injury arising out of vehicular accidents were settled. He said that an amount of Rs.81.19 lakh was awarded as compensation to the accident victims.
He said that 1,887 cases pertaining to other categories including civil, petty criminal, matrimonial and family disputes, 138 cases of Negotiable Instruments Act and of bank loans pending and at pre-litigative stage were also settled.
He said that if any person is desirous to get his or her case settled in the Lok Adalat, he or she might move an application to the concerned District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman or Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority or Additional Civil Judge, Senior Division or Senior Most Civil Judge-cum-Chairman of Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee under whose jurisdiction the case falls.
