Chandigarh, Dec 12–As many as 16,000 new Anganwadi Workers would be recruited in Haryana within a month and about 800 new Anganwadi Centres would be set up.
This was disclosed by Mrs Geeta Bhukkal, Haryana Women and Child Development Minister while addressing the people in the concluding function of State Level Women Sports Competition at Jhajjar today.
She said that Haryana was the first state in the country where maximum facilities were being provided to the Anganwadi Centres. The provision of Name Badge for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers was being enforced in the state. The uniforms were already being provided to the Anganwadi Workers in the state. Haryana was the state where Anganwadi Workers and Helpers were being given doubled honorarium vis-a-vis their counterparts in other States.
She said that the Integrated Child Development Scheme had been made a programme conducted by the community by decentralising it and making at a part of Panchayati Raj. So far about 6,000 village level committees had been constituted to pursue the welfare programmes of children and women. Sakshar Mahila Samooh Yojana, which is the registered organisation of literate women and adolescent girls in each village, was also being implemented in the State. So far, 6200 such Samoohs had been registered.
Mrs Bhukkal said that instead of cooked grams, the tiny-tots in the Anganwadi Centres would now be provided ‘parantha’ alongwith other delicious dishes in the breakfast. To achieve this objective, the State Government has decided to provide pressure cookers of 12 litres capacity and big gas oven in each Anganwadi Centres in the State.
