21 Sep :Goa government will implement the sixth pay commission recommendation from November 2008 while the state cabinet, scheduled to meet next week, will decide on the recommendation which would be later implemented to the state govt employees.
Officials confirmed that the average jump in salary for any government employee would be around 30 to 35 percent.The state government would have to face a liability of Rs 25 crore per month once the sixth pay commission recommendations are implemented.
"Overall liability on the government for the period from January 2006 to Aug, 2008 in terms of salaries and arrears would be around 800 crore," official stated.The state finance secretary Udipta Ray along with joint secretary Suresh Shanbogue has given a presentation to the cabinet about the implication of the implementation of the recommendations.
The government employees in the state have been eagerly waiting for the implementation of the recommendations which will give sizable rise in their monthly salaries.DDINEWS
