14 Feb : Goa will host its traditional carnival float parades across major cities in the state beginning 21st February.The state tourism department, in association with the respective municipal councils, will hold these parades in the cities of Panaji, Margao, Vasco and Mapusa.
"The lead float will have King Momo, a mythological character, on it," Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) Chairman Sham Satardekar, told reporters in Panaji.
The float parade here will be held along the picturesque Mandovi river on 21st February, at Margao on 22nd February, at Vasco on 23rd February and Mapusa on 24th February.
Brazil had participated in the float parade last year but is not on the list this time.
"They (Brazil government) have not approached us with any proposal. We are insisting that there should be more local participation," GTDC Vice-Chairman Lyndon Monteiro said.
He stated that a huge number of foreign and domestic tourists are likely to attend the parades.
