1 Feb : The Chhattisgarh government will present its budget for the year 2009-10 in the state assembly on 9th February.The budgetary session of the Assembly will resume from 2nd February and the chief minister Raman Singh, who holds the finance portfolio as well, will present the budget, Chhattisgarh assembly speaker, Dharamlal Kaushik told reporters at Raipur on Sunday.
Kaushik said the budget session will continue till 20th February during which 269 starred questions and 201 unstarred questions will be taken up for discussion.
Besides, notices for 12 adjournment motions, 47 call attention motions and three non-government resolutions have been received by the assembly secretariat.
Meanwhile, leader of opposition Ravindra Chaubey said Congress legislators will raise the issue of 8th January controversial police encounter at village Singarvaram in South Bastar in which 17 people including women were killed.
He said the party members will press for a detailed enquiry into the matter as the villagers alleged that it was a fake encounter.
Congress legislators will also raise the issue of corruption and irregularities in procurement of paddy from the farmers under the support-price scheme and the issue of BJP government’s failure to abide by its promise to provide Rs 270 bonus per quintal on paddy procured from the farmers, he said.
The government has backtracked from its promise by giving them only Rs 220 per quintal. It amounts breach of trust, he added.
