New Delhi,May 14:The Supreme Court on Wednesday admitted Chhattisgarh Government’s special leave petition against former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, charged with holding a fraudulent caste certificate for claiming a Scheduled Tribe status.
A bench of Justices, B N Aggrawal and G S Singhvi which had earlier issued notice to Jogi on the issue, granted leave admitted after the Additional Advocate General Jugal Kishore Gilda submitted that the State High Court had failed to appreciate the evidence while giving a clean chit to the former Chief Minister on the issue.
The Chhattisgarh Government and certain others had filed the SLP challenging the clean chit given to Jogi by the State High Court on December 15, 2006.
