New Delhi, May 2:Retail prices of farm commodities monitored by the Department of Consumer Affairs at different locations have generally remained steady or shown mixed trend over the week ending April 25, 2008.During the week ending April 25, 2008 prices of wheat remained steady at all the reporting centres.Prices of sugar remained steady at all the reporting centers except for an increase at Ahmedabad and Shillong and decline at Delhi.
Prices of gram dal remained steady at all the reporting centres. Price increase at Shillong. Price decreased at Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram.Prices of tur dal remained steady at all reporting centers except for an increase at Shillong and Thiruvananthapuram and decrease at Guwahati.In Delhi, prices of gram dal, and onion held steady for one week. Prices of rice, wheat, atta, tur dal, and potato held steady for one month. Price of milk and salt held steady for six months. Price of sugar decreased from Rs. 18 to Rs. 17 per kg during the week. Price of groundnut oil decreased from Rs. 121 to Rs. 120. Price of mustard oil decreased from Rs. 73 per kg to Rs. 71 per kg. Price of vanaspati decreased from Rs. 73 to Rs.71 per kg.Out of 1.37 million tonnes of pulses contracted for import by PEC, MMTC, NAFED and STC so far, 1.19 million tonne has arrived at Indian ports out of which 1.03 MT has been disposed of.
