New Delhi,16 May:A nationwide campaign will soon be launched by the BJP’s women’s wing, the Mahila Morcha to fight the alleged anti-women policies of the UPA government.Rallies will be held at the mandal level as part of the campaign.
The Morcha would concentrate on adult education, handicrafts, computer training, personality development and oppose female infanticide, Morcha President Kiran Maheshwari said.
Referring to Women’s Reservation Bill, she said it was introduced in Parliament thrice in the past, but had not been passed due to the "double standards" of the Congress.
Though the UPA government’s Common Minimum Programme had promised women’s reservation, no progress has been made, she said.
The chances of getting the bill passed were bright if AICC President Sonia Gandhi takes it seriously, she said.
She claimed states ruled by BJP and its allies like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Bihar were performing well, especially with regard to women’s education, health and self-reliance.
The party has increased its women’s reservation quota from 33 per cent to 50 per cent in local bodies, she said.
