High quality imageries acquired from India’s advanced remote sensing satellite RESOURCESAT-2 were presented to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today (May 9, 2011) at New Delhi by Dr. K Radhakrishnan, Chairman, ISRO along with a team of senior scientists from Centres and Units of ISRO/DOS. It may be recalled that RESOURCESAT-2 was launched successfully by PSLV-C16 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota on April 20, 2011. The cameras on board RESOURCESAT-2 were operated on April 28, 2011 and the imageries have been acquired over India and many parts of the globe.
Imageries shown to Prime Minister covered scenes over Delhi, Bareilly, Surat and Dubai. Imageries acquired by both the LISS-4 camera and AWiFS camera were presented.The Prime Minister was highly appreciative of the success of the PSLV-C16 mission, which placed RESOURCESAT-2 satellite, Indo-Russian satellite YOUTHSAT and X-SAT satellite from Singapore into orbit precisely. He congratulated the entire team for the magnificent performance. The Prime Minister was also briefed about ISROs forthcoming missions. The Prime Minister wished ISRO team success in all its future missions for the coming months.
