New Delhi, Delhi, March 28 : The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT)- New Delhi and Kolkata, held its 45th Annual Convocation ceremony at the Delhi campus. 690 students enrolled under diverse courses from both the campuses, received their degrees on the occasion.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Sam Pitroda, Advisor to PM of India on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations with the rank of Cabinet Minister. Mr. K T Chacko, Director, IIFT and Dr. Rahul Khullar, Commerce Secretary, Dept. of Commerce, Government of India presided over the ceremony.Congratulating the graduates Mr. Sam Pitroda, Advisor to PM of India on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations, noted that Graduating from such an esteemed institute that has an excellent record from past 45 years and consistently been ranked amongst the top B-schools is definitely a privilege for every student of IIFT. Also addressing on further he said, “I would like to advice the young and talented professionals to focus on inclusive growth as it works both ways. When the benefits of rapid economic growth percolate down to the lowest data of society, potentially new markets get created for products and services produced by the corporate sector. Thus, in every way, working for inclusion happens to be the best contribution to nation building that the corporate sector can do, in its own self-enlightened interest.”
Also present at the occasion Dr. Rahul Khullar, Commerce Secretary, Dept. of Commerce, Government of India felicitated the graduates saying “As you step out of the portals of the IIFT with your degree in your hand, you can walk into the world outside with greater confidence and ability and with a determination to achieve your ambitions. At the end of the day you should be proud of yourselves. Whether you are a CEO or a policy maker, if you have worked towards a grand vision, taken responsible decisions and stayed true to your values, we would be proud of you”. He further complimented saying, “I wish growth, courage and power to sustain in this corporate world and as you take your journey forward always remember to ask “WHO” you want to be and not “WHAT” you want to be?”
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chacko said, “IIFT is progressing towards achieving the vision of being an Academic Centre of Excellence. The institute has been able to achieve so much and is emboldened to think bigger, only because of the whole hearted support and dedication of the Faculty and the non teaching staff. Congratulating the students on their successful journey at the prestigious Institute, he further added “I wish the graduating students all the success in their endeavors”.
Apart from receiving their degrees, students who have done exceedingly well received awards for their performances. Convocation 2011 ended on a joyous note with students throwing their graduation caps in the air with beaming eyes looking forward to yet another challenging phase of their lives.
