Delhi : Shri Hardeep Singh Puri joined BJP today. Shri Puri joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1974. During a distinguished career spanning 39 years, he served in senior positions at the Ministries of External Affairs and Defence. He held Ambassadorial level assignments in London and Brasilia and served as Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations in Geneva and New York.
During 2011 and 2012, as Permanent Representative, he led the Indian Delegation to the Security Council. He also chaired its Counter Terrorism Committee.
Welcoming him into the BJP, BJP President Shri Rajnath Singh said that the BJP look forward to utilising his experience in the areas of Foreign, Security and Trade policies.
Shri Puri said he was delighted to formally join the party which he had long admired for its strong sense of nationalism. He looked forward to doing party work and stood ready to contribute in whatever manner the Party President and its senior leadership require him to.
