Delhi,November 23—In the Haryana Pavilion in IITF-2011 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, whereas one gets a glimpse of the progress made by Haryana in different sectors of industry, at the same time one also sees the handicraft products and domestic products like beautiful dolls, attractive taddy bears and other toys, which compel the visitors to have a look at them.
The dolls have changed the life of Dinesh Sharma of Hisar district. 50 year old Dinesh Sharma is expert in doll making with cloth and he has won a number of prizes at State and National level. The replicas of Ram darbar, Radha-Krishan, Laxmi-Ganesh, Vishnu, Hanuman and other deities, depict the folk culture of various States like Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Jammu Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Mr Sharma has been displaying his art work at various State and National level Craft Melas. He is also invited to exhibitions in different towns. At a function in Karnal, Mr Sharma was also honoured with ‘Karmbhoomi Samman’ by Union Minister Mr Farookh Abdulla. Mr Sharma also goes to schools to train the students in the art of doll making.
The soft toys displayed at the Pavilion are also attracting the visitors. An artist from Faridabad, S.W.Husain has displayed a number of beautiful teddy bears in different sizes at his stall. Mr Husain told that he was awarded prize in this Trade Fair in 2008. He said that he does all the work at his house, where all his family members help him. Whosoever comes to him for learning this art, he trains him properly and charges no fee from him.
Mehar Chand of village Badha of Gurgaon district has also put up stall of soft toys. He is in this field for the last 20 years. The toys displayed at his stall include teddy bears, monkeys, elephants, dogs, key rings, bags, mobile covers etc. Mehar Chand said that he is doing all the work at his house, where eight to ten ladies from a self help group come to help him and his wife also helps him.
