NEW DELHI/CHANDIGARH, June 11: The Deputy Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh today sought the resignation of the union minister of state for North Eastern and NRI Affairs Gen (rtd) VK Singh for his highly objectionable remarks against the Chief of Army Staff Designate Lt Gen Dalbir Singh, which he said, amounted to denigrating the Indian army.
Speaking during the motion of thanks to the President’s address in the Lok Sabha today, Capt Amarinder started his speech while referring to Gen VK Singh’s highly controversial and objectionable tweet in which he had described Gen Dalbir Singh as a “criminal” and his men as “dacoits”.
He said, it was highly condemnable that someone who is a minister in the NDA government and has served as a Chief of Army Staff himself has denigrated such a great institution like Indian army which is one of the best in the world and is respected for its professional excellence all over.
Capt Amarinder asserted that in case Gen Singh does not resign of his own, he must be dismissed from the government. He said, such remarks can only demoralise our army.
