New Delhi:Lt Gen BS Sisodia, Sr Col Comdt and Directorate General of Army Ordnance Corps and other senior officer laid wreath at Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate today to mark the 233rd Anniversary of the Corps.Army Ordnance Corps has a long history of providing Material Management Support to the Army both during peace and war and it has come out with flying colours each & every time. The AOC is responsible for Provisioning, Procurement, Receipt, Warehousing,
Accounting and Issue of an inventory of over 4 lakh items. As materials manager of the Indian Army, the AOC is perhaps one of the largest logistic organizations in the world, in terms of size and diversity of inventory, customer base, vendor profile and the geographical extent of the supply chain.
One of the major responsibilities of the Corps is the management of ammunition, which includes warehousing, in-storage Proof to check serviceability, Repairs and Disposal of unserviceable ammunition by burning or demolition.
Army Ordnance Corps professional skills with value based soldierly attitude, has shown discernible results & acknowledged by commanders. The feedback reflects very positively on all Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers/Other Ranks and civilians of the Corps. The indomitable spirit of the Indian soldier pervades all AOC personnel as well. The civilian personnel of the AOC are a unique asset. Blessed with a healthy industrial climate, the hierarchy of the Corps makes constant efforts to capitalize on the professionalism and expertise of both Combatant and Civilian cadres to accomplish organizational goals.
