New Delhi,17 Apr:The All-India Consumer Price Index Number for Agricultural Labourers and Rural Labourers (Base: 1986-87=100) for March, 2008 increased by 6 points each to stand at 423 (Four hundred and twenty three) points for both the series.The rise in index varied from State to State. In the case of Agricultural Labourers, 6 States reflected an increase in index ranging between 7 and 11 points; 13 States between 3 and 6 points while the index for one State, i.e. Himachal Pradesh remained constant. Haryana with 459 points topped the index Table whereas Himachal Pradesh and Manipur were at the bottom with the index level of 370 points each.In the case of Rural Labourers, the increase in index ranged between 7 and 11 points in 6 States and between 3 and 6 points in 14 States. Haryana with 457 points topped the index table whereas Manipur was at the bottom with the index level of 370 points.The Consumer Price Index Number of Haryana for both Agricultural Labourers and Rural Labourers registered the highest increase of 11 points each mainly due to increase in the prices of rice, wheat atta, bajra atta, pulses, milk, mustard oil, vanaspati, ghee, vegetables & fruits, gur and washing soap. No State has shown decrease in index during March 2008.Point to point rate of inflation based on the CPI-AL and CPI-RL increased from 6.38% and 6.11% during February, 2008 to 7.91% and 7.63% respectively in March, 2008. Respective rates of inflation during March, 2007 were 9.50% and 9.1%.
