The birth day of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji was celebrated in Madrasi colony of Maloya village, Chandigarh by south Indian students in unique way by reciting Zafaranama. The Zafaranama was written by Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji to then king of Mughal, Aurangzeb in Persian language. The translator of Zafaranama into Kannada language, Punditrao Dharenavar taught Zafaranama to south Indian students of Maloya village. He also asked students to write a letter to Administrator of
Chandigarh administration to start residential school for Punjab and Haryana students. Chandigarh which is capital city of both states does not have a single residential school which is much needed for the far reaching students of both states.
Punditrao said that new generation have forgotten to write a letter therefore students must write a letter to relatives, government with demands. He also said that Zafaranama is very much relevant for the modern world therefore Zafaranama has to be translated into all the languages of the world. Arminder Singh, president Punjabi Manch, Maloya said that area needs Punjabi teacher so administration must provide teachers of Punjabi language in all the schools from first standards.
Ten students were taught Zafaraanama and were awarded cash prize.
