Chandigarh, December 29: Today, to pay respect to the departed soul of brave Delhi rape victim, YUVA (Youth United for Voluntary Action) a youth group promoted by Yuvsatta organized a prayer meeting in Sector 26 of Chandigarh. Besides over 200 young people and others SK Setia, Jt. Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, Jaswinder Kaur, Poilce Post Incharge, Sector 26, PC Sanghi, Chairman, FOSWAC & Krishan Lal, President, Residents Welfare Association, Sector 26 participated.
Later the participants took out a protest rally demanding speedier justice & deterrent laws to curb such heinous acts of violence against women in our country, where people worship women in temples and they get repeatedly raped in streets.
“Most rapes and other sex crimes in India go unreported and offenders are rarely punished”, shared Pramod Sharma, Coordinator, Yuvsatta, SK Setia added that the brutality of the December 16 assault sparked public outrage and calls for better policing and harsher punishment for rapists.
