Chandigarh Tourism and CITCO is celebrating the World Tourism Week in Chandigarh from 27th Sept. to 30th Sept., 2013.
The Theme of the World Tourism day 27th September is “Tourism & Water – Protecting our common future”. The World Tourism Week events have become bigger in scale & reach, spreading to various venues across the city with special emphasis on promotion of Chandigarh as a Tourist Destination.
On the World Tourism Day Eve – 26th September, 2013, there would be 3D Dimensional Art installations by students of Architecture, College of Arts etc. to commemorate the theme “Tourism & Water” at Sukhna Lake. The inauguration of the 3 D Art Installations shall be done by Shri K.K. Sharma, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T. at 5.30P.M. on 26th September and shall be on display for the visitors till 30th September.
As the Tourism Week unfolds a plethora of events and competitions shall dot the city with its tourism oriented activities which include “Su-Prabhat- Good Morning Raga”, “Heritage Walks”, “Photography competition”, “Paryatan Bhavan Design Competition”, “Free Hop On Hop Off rides”, “Bollywood Musical Nite by Kavita Krishnamurthy at Shopping Plaza Sector 17, Punjabi Musical Nite at New Lake, Sector 42 etc..
International Coffee Festival at Hotel Mountview and Hotel Shivalikview” and much more. The Tourism Week, through these special events shall also enable the residents and visitors to get involved in knowing various aspects of architecture, tourist spots and entities of the city which have not been explored so far. Also this shall instil new zeal and enthusiasm amongst residents to explore the potential of Tourism in their own city.
According to Ms. Tanvi Garg, MD CITCO and Director Tourism, Chandigarh “World Tourism Week shall provide an ample opportunity to visitors and citizens of tricity to participate in such tourism events and activities which collectively make Chandigarh a happening city and catapults Chandigarh as a hub of tourism and culture in this region. Chandigarh Tourism always focusses on such week long tourism activities which have high entertainment quotient and attracts large number of tourist not only from this region but also across the country.
