Mohali, 21 September 2011 : International Peace Day was celebrated at the Gian Jyoti Institute of Management & Technology,Phase 2 mohali, today with the aim of inculcating the feelings of peace, love, equality and universal brotherhood among students.A seminar for “Role of youth working for peace all over the world” was conducted on this occasion, Mr. J.S. Bedi, Chairman, Gian Jyoti Group of Institutions, was chief guest on this occasion.
The programme began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, followed by the welcome address.
Mr. J.S.Bedi, Chairman, Gian Jyoti Group of Institutions, said, “We sadly remember the day when USA dropped a bomb over Hiroshima and commit ourselves to peace by sharing and discussing throughout the world. The day had great relevance to humanity”.
He further added that peace must be cultivated and practiced by simply respecting all rejecting violence, sharing with others, listening to understand, preserving the planet and redefining solidarity and youth can do it with full strength .
He highlighted the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther and Nelson Mandela to peace. Mr. Bedi said that lesson of peace should be incorporated in the education system.
The students and the staff while reiterating the need for peace also reflected that terrorism, which has emerged a global phenomenon needs to be dealt with by all countries. All students and teachers vowed to promote peace.
It is just like day dreaming to talk about world peace until the *Global Government* is established, with a special charter in it for the tackling of the latest Ism- Terrorism; which in fact, is the progeny of Politicians, Priests & an erroneous system to sustain the human society as a whole; in the righteous manner, because no one could & can win a war against own progeny, is an acclaimed fact & history as well–dr.amritgaur
