Elder abuse is a worldwide phenomenon, not confined to India alone. This abuse may take many forms, physical violence being just one of them. A recent study commissioned by Helpage India, conducted in some large cities has revealed an alarming lack of awareness both among the elders and others about the issues involved. There is thus a need to address the problem and evolve a strategy to counter the menace. It is with this aim that a seminar is being organized at Govt Museum and Art Gallery, Sector 10 from 10.15 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday, 15th June 2011 with active support and patronage of Chandigarh Police. Sh Alok Kumar, IPS, DIG Chandigarh has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest.
Eminent speakers, specialists in their respective fields, are on the panel of speakers. In addition, there will be a presentation on security devices.
