Chandigarh: Sanjay Pahwa : A Two-day workshop organized by the Red Ribbon Club of Post-Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh was inaugurated by Mrs. Achila Dogra, Principal of the college today. On the first day, a series of Inter-College Competitions were organized. More than fifty students from nine colleges of the city participated in Poster-making, Slogan-writing and Caption-writing contests. The innovative and creative ideas of the students were splendidly reflected through their drawings and presentations. The volunteers of Red Ribbon Club also presented songs to highlight the causes of HIV/AIDS and precautions to be undertaken to stop infection and its spread. The Power-Point presentation on this issue was an eye-opener and highly appreciated by one and all. A cultural showcase was also presented.
A Talk and Interactive session was also organized on this occasion. Dr. Archana, Director, UT AIDS Control Organization was the resource-person. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Archana highlighted the status of HIV/AIDS in the Indian subcontinent and put forward concrete steps that can be initiated for controlling and curbing this menace.
Principal Mrs. Achila Dogra appreciated the initiative of Red Ribbon Club and said that the volunteers will surely succeed in their endeavour to generate awareness on the issue, and be beneficial for the society.
