Chandigarh, December 2:- UT Finance Secretary, Mr. Sanjay Kumar today inaugurated the workshop on ‘Prevention and Investigation of Financial and Cyber Crimes’. The workshop was jointly conducted by Chandigarh Police, Cyber Security Research Centre and ICICI Bank at Punjab Engineering College, Sector-12.
While delivering the inaugural address, Mr. Sanjay Kumar said that cyber crimes can not be stopped but we can do our best to contain these crimes. He appreciated the efforts of Chandigarh Police, CSRC and ICICI bank for organizing this kind of workshop and said this will throw light on important issues and solutions regarding how we could go ahead in future. He further averred that the workshop will help to contain future crimes and activities which are detrimental for the society.
Mr. Kumar further said that Administration is taking future challenges much in advance and this workshop will provide the right direction and right thinking to prevent such financial and cyber frauds. Recent incidents of violence have showed that the use of electronic equipments like computer and internet are of immense importance today. Thus, Government Agencies will have to master their man material, equipments etc, he added.
Mr. S.K. Jain stressed on a closer interaction of financial institutions with law enforcement agencies for effective policing of White-Collar crimes. He also elaborated on how such crimes are becoming increasingly frequent and the need for such workshops.
The objective of the workshop was to give an insight on different types of cyber crimes and to increase awareness on potential financial and cyber crimes.
IGP, Mr. S.K. Jain, DIG, Mr. Vivek Gogia, SSP, Mr. S.S. Srivastava, Director Information Technology, Mr. Manjit Brar, Director Punjab Engineering College, Mr. Manoj Dutta and AGM, ICICI Bank, Mr. Gurmeet Dhindsa were also present on the occasion.
