Chandigarh. 24th February : Currently there are many threats to IT infrastructures and the need of the hour is to study how security should be implemented in and across Information networks. Today technology is developing very fast and it is the use of technology which makes it good or bad. With this objective, the two-day workshop on ‘Advances in Information Security’ was inaugurated by UT Finance Secretary, Mr. Sanjay Kumar at PEC (Punjab Engineering College). This workshop focuses on all technical and practical aspects of security and its applications for wired and wireless networks for securing information over systems and networks.
While addressing Mr. Sanjay said that time has come to evolve the safety measures and convince people that electronic form is much safer than physical form. This workshop will bring together researchers and practitioners from academics and industry to focus on understanding modern security threats and their countermeasures. He further added, “Today’s IT systems can be made more effective with the right use of technology for the economic growth, sustainable development and good governance.” It provides awareness and training covering issues relating to the Information Security and its implementations.
The workshop has sessions from spectrum of Speakers of high reputed experts from industry, scientists from CDAC Bangalore and CSRC. Mumbai based Administrative Director of CDAC, Mr. George Arakal mentioned that CDAC has taken the major challenge of being the Certifying Authority under Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA), Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, and Government of India.
The workshop has participants from various IT industries such as Infosys, Wipro, K7, NICs, Academic Institutions, Banks and also Defence. This workshop is organized by Department of Information Technology & Chandigarh Administration in association with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Bangalore.
