26 Mar :Charandeep Kapoor, a class 3 student of Vivek High School, Sector 38 has done his parents and teachers proud by excelling in all the three Olympiad exams held during the Academic Year 2008-09.
These Olympiad competitions conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation are aimed at assessing the students at national level—aptitude in Science through the ‘National Science Olympiad’, aptitude in Computers & IT through the ‘National Cyber Olympiad’, while the ‘International Maths Olympiad’ ranks the students at an international level. These exams are conducted in two levels, shortlisting the first 500 students in level-1 exams and subsequently a 2nd-level rigourous testing for the final national/international ranking of these students.
Charandeep Kapoor of Vivek High qualified through the 1st level of all the three Olympiads winning the level-1 ‘School Topper gold medals’ in NSO and IMO and finally in round-2, an overall all-India 11th rank in the National Cyber Olympiad, 17th all-India rank in National Science Olympiad and 77th International rank in the International Maths Olympiad. Besides the first level gold medals, he shall also be awarded Merit Certificates, Rs. 2100/- cash prize and two sets of interesting and informative CDs to further develop his interests in these subjects by the Science Olympiad Foundation.
