The Indaia Post, Chandigarh, 3rd November, 2008 : Vigilance Awareness Week’ would be observed till November 9, 2008. The first day of the week commenced with the pledge taking ceremony.
Adviser to the UT Administrator, Mr. Pradip Mehra administered the oath of integrity & transparency. The oath taking ceremony was conducted at UT Secretariat, Sector 9 here today. All the organizations falling under the purview of the Central Vigilance Commission would be observing this week.
All the officials and employees took a pledge for continuously striving to bring about integrity and transparency in all the spheres of their activities. They also pledged for working unstintingly for eradication of corruption in all walks of life and to remain vigilant and work towards the growth and reputation of their organizations.
UT Home-cum-Chief Vigilance Officer, Mr. Ram Niwas apprised that special telephone number 0172-2740012 has been installed purely for the purpose of vigilance work for eradication of corruption and to bring more transparency. The step will also help building confidence of public in police. The initiative will provide better accessibility to the public. Public can report/inform the CVO/Administration at any time regarding any corruption matter on this telephone number.
During the week, efforts would be made to raise awareness among the users of the services provided by the departments/organizations, about the initiatives taken for improvement of the systems and procedures. The complaint handling policy, the avenues available for redressal of grievances, etc. would also be given priority.
