14 Feb :Today on one hand the fanatic religious organisations like Sena and Sewaks were adament to stop the love birds from celebrating the Valentine day where even threats were issued in the media that they would forcibly pick up the couples and get them married but on the other hand the Sehajdhari Sikh Federation gave a rebuttal to their actions by deputing Youth wings in the University Campus ,colleges and markets and even SMS with phone no’s of the Police Control Room and other leaders of Sehajdhari Sikh Federation were displayed for urgent help.
The SMS read as “wish you hapy VDAY.4any distrbnce by any SENA or SEWK dail 100(Police Control)or 9888071530,—(and many no’s)—-without fear, feel fre& enjoy VDAY but respect Modesty of Females.4wd to all youth frnds.Muh todwa jwab do aurat ki raksha karo.Sehajdhari Sikh Federation(Regd.Political Party by EC of India)Zindabad”. At some places the Sewaks and Sena workers tried to create nuisance but failed due to the hard deployement of police forces.
Recently the National President of the Sehajdhari Sikh Federation Dr.P.S.Ranu wrote a letter to the President of India drawing her attention towards the threatening statements of certain Fanatic Organizations like Bajrang Dal and Shri Ram Sena who were openly giving threats in the media that they will oppose the celebrations of Valentine day with manual forces and forcefully arrange the marriages of the couples found moving together on the Valentine day. The Federation stated that these type of open statements issued for cheap popularity were against the Constitution of India and were serious threats to the Sovereignty and Integrity of the Country. According to Article 19(1)(d) of the Constitution of India under the RIGHT TO FREEDOM every citizen has a Right to freedom to move freely throughout the territory of India and as per Article 21 under Protection of Life and personal Liberty No person shall be deprived of his life or personal liberty except according to procedure established by Law. Also according to Article 25 of the Constitution of India “subject to public orders morality and health and to the other provisions of this part all persons are equally entitled to freedom of conscience and the right freely to profess, practice and propagate religion.” Hence no one has any right to impose any religious bindings on any one.
Dr.Ranu said that that the spirit of the Valentine day is to spread the message of Love and love should not be misinterpreted. It has to be given a healthy meaning in India which is a land of Saints and Sages where Love has been termed as a Symbol of Sympathy towards the Humanity
