Chandigarh : Sanjay Pahwa : The Chandigarh Police became the country’s first police force to induct an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) which will henceforth serve as an ‘eye in the sky ‘ this UAV will help in surveillance in times of demonstrations, disaster management , VVIP security etc. The defence research Development Organisation (DRDO) gave a demonstration of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) at Chandigarh Police Headquarter . A team from DRDO explained the features and utility of the UAV, Golden Hawk Which is worth Rs. 18 lakh. The Chandigarh police have purchased a unit of Golden Hawk and are also considering another advance UAV Netra. Addressing mediapersons at Sector-9 Chandigarh Police Headquarters the U.P Inspector General Pradeep Kumar Srivastava said Goldem Hawk would we instrumental in maintaining law and order in the city. It will also help in keeping a watch on the traffice situation in the city he added.
