The India Post, Chandigarh, 18th October, 2008 :UT Home Secretary, Mr. Ram Niwas today made visit to various parking locations of Industrial Area for their optimum usage and reviewed the progress of New OPD under construction in Government Multi Specialty Hospital, Sector 32. He examined the development of three parking locations in the Industrial Area Phase I including the parking near Physer Pharmaceuticals, Temporary parking opposite Bhushan Factory near Railway Bridge and the parking surrounded by plot number 47, 48, 41, 39.
The Parking area opposite Bhushan Factory has a capacity of accommodating around 150 Trucks. The parking areas once developed fully will facilitate parking of commuters visiting Centra Mall and other commercial complexes and further reduce the parking problem in the Industrial Area.
Mr. Niwas also visited the newly created Car parking near K C Theatre and Taj Hotel in Sector 17. He also examined the demand of the Librarian of State Library, Sector 17 for providing additional space to accommodate more books. He also went to the site of Half Way Home, Sector 47 for mentally challenged which would be inaugurated shortly. He further reviewed the ongoing renovation of the old block in UT Guest House, Sector 6. The revamping at UT Guest House will be completed till March 31, 2009.
During the visit Mr. Niwas also visited the site of New OPD at GMSH- 16 constructed at a cost of around Rs. 850 laks. Mr. Niwas directed the officials to expedite the construction work. The contractor has assured of completing the construction work in all respect till December 2009. He also directed the officials to start the construction of the Administrative Block at the earliest.
Chief Architect, Ms. Sumit Kaur, Chief Engineer, Mr. Kishanjit Singh, Director Industries, Ms. Vandana Disodia, Director Health Services, Mr. M.S. Bains and other senior officials of the Administration accompanied Mr. Niwas during the visit and briefed him.
