Chandigarh, March 8:- Chandigarh Administration has decided to double the assistance amount for providing the financial assistance for the marriage of daughters of widows and destitute women belonging to Scheduled Castes.
UT Home and Social Welfare Secretary, Mr Krishna Mohan said that this scheme is being implemented by the Social Welfare Department with the main
object to provide the financial assistance for meeting the marriage expenses of the daughter of widows and destitute women belonging to Scheduled Castes.
Mr Mohan said that , a sum of Rs. 10,000/- was being paid to Scheduled Castes widow women whose family income is not more than Rs. 24,000/- p.a.
and she is residing in Chandigarh for the last 3 years. The bride should at least be of 18 years of age on the date of marriage and it should be her first marriage.
The assistance is given maximum up to two daughters in a family.
Keeping in view to escalation in prices, now Chandigarh Administration has decided to enhance the benefit/financial assistance from Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 20,000/- for marriage of each daughter, maximum up to two daughters in a family. The other terms and conditions of the scheme will remain same for availing benefit.
