Dr. Avnish Jolly, Chandigarh, 5th October 2008 :The grand son of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Ustad Raza Ali Khan mesmerized audiences through his captivating performance today at Panjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16 in an evening of Hindustani Classical Vocal Music. The programme was organized by the Cultural Affairs Department, UT Administration in collaboration with Triveni Sangeet Sabha.
Former Adviser to the UT Administrator, Ms. Neeru Nanda was the chief guest on the occasion. During the programme a short film of Ustad Bade Gulam Ali Khan was screened as a tribute to the legendary singer. Ustad Raza started his performance with Ragpuria. Ustad Raza was accompanied by Shri. Ghulam Ali, on Sarangi and Shri. Avirbhav Verma, on Tabla. People thronged to witness Ustad Raza’s performance.
Ustad Raza Ali Khan is the foremost exponent of Kaur Patiala Bharana. He is the son of Ustad Munawar Ali Khan. He has an extremely melodious voice. A range that can easily cover three and half octaves, superfast sargams intricate tehais and sudh akar tan are the facets of his singing. He is equally home with Khayal, thumri, dadra, kalam, sufi songs, ghazals and geets. He has enthralled millions throughout the globe with his superb performance.
